Introduction
Ports are emerging as key enablers of Europe’s green transition, serving as industrial and logistical hubs that connect renewable energy production, storage, and distribution across regions and sectors. This talk presents POTENT, an EU initiative that strengthens Europe’s industrial capacity by positioning ports at the centre of the green-energy transformation. Bringing together 8 academic institutions from around the EU as well as 17 non-academic partners, including port authorities, public agencies, industry, and NGOs; POTENT explores how port ecosystems can integrate new renewable energy technologies, attract investment, and coordinate between public and private actors.
