Under the topic “Energy solutions for a sustainable and inclusive future” our colleagues Tooraj Jamasb, Flora von Mikulicz-Radecki, Christine Brandstätt and Johannes Giehl exchanged on the current trends, challenges, and opportunities in the energy sector.
Christine Brandstätt presented on new issues and options for distribution grids and hosted a session on the interconnected power system.
Johannes Giehl and Maike Kalz from the Fachgebiet Energie- & Ressourcenmanagement presented their work with Flora von Mikulicz-Radecki and Mathilde Roger Estrade on reassessing the EU’s LNG import expansion: Geopolitical dependencies, energy security, and climate goals after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The work combines a techno-economic model of the gas transmission system with a policy analysis. The study assesses whether this expansion was necessary and to analyze the impact on the security of supply, affordability (focusing on Eastern Europe and the Baltics) and environmental sustainability. You can find the presentation below this post.
The conference was also the last trip with Christine Brandstätt as part of our team at Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI). We had an excellent time with you as member of our team and will miss your contributions to teaching, research but also the input to the team and joint discussions. She stays in Paris, and we wish you an wonderful start at your new job at the International Energy Agency (IEA)!
Thanks to the local organizers and the International Association for Energy Economics for the good organization and hosting us in Paris.
